About This Spot
Stepping into El Toro in Burlington feels like uncovering a vibrant corner where Mexican flavors meet a welcoming, unpretentious atmosphere. The rhythm of the place is easygoing, inviting guests to settle in and savor moments as they come, whether it’s a casual dinner after a long day or a relaxed weekend gathering with friends and family.
The air carries the comforting scent of fresh tortillas and warm spices, setting a tone that’s both familiar and inviting. It’s the kind of spot where the service is attentive without rushing you, and the chatter around pulses gently with energy but never overwhelms. The portions here are generous, encouraging sharing and lingering over plates filled with colors and textures that tell stories of tradition meeting local taste.
What makes El Toro feel especially authentic is the way its menu unfolds as part of the experience rather than a checklist. From the sizzle of fajitas arriving at the table to the lively mix of flavors in their nachos and the cozy comfort of richly layered burritos, each bite carries a warmth that feels handmade. There’s a sense of joyful discovery in trying something new—whether it’s a classic enchilada or a refreshing Michelada—that resonates with those who appreciate more than just a meal but a genuine moment.
Beyond the plates, the ambiance is shaped by friendly faces and a steady hum of contentment. Guests leave with more than just full bellies; they take with them a simple satisfaction rooted in good company and well-prepared food that honors its roots while embracing its community. El Toro feels less like a stop on the way and more like a welcome invitation to experience Mexican cuisine in a space that values warmth, flavor, and the comfort of feeling at home.

My waiter made the best Pina colada ever. Always fresh chips salsa and warm queso. Love the lazy chicken. Thank you for such great service. Highly recommend.

This place is just crushing it, and consistently. Wow. Wonderful menu with helpful photos, great service with delicious food and huge portions. Very reasonably priced. All positives. Kudos. Ready for the next visit soon!

This was the first time I tried Mexican food in Burlington. We tried Shrimp cheese nachos, Quesadillas, shrimp salad, and seafood salad. I didn’t find the taste authentic, though I occasionally try maxican food.

Very tasty food and good atmosphere. Ordered the grande burrito which has great flavor but it took more than 30 minutes to get to my table and when it did it was like warm at best.

First time going but Definitely not the last. Quite possibly my new favorite restaurant and undoubtedly my new favorite Mexican spot. Tremendous menu selection. Authentic taste. HUGE portions, more than reasonable prices and very friendly staff. The decor could use a little TLC (the reason for only 4 stars) but pleasant and comfortable. The place was packed but the food was still quick to the table and steaming hot. My Texas Fajitas were fantastic and enough for at least 2 ppl for only $18. Great queso, guac and salsa as well. I didn't try the Margaritas (I don't drink, lol) but they appeared large and traditional. The other meal in the pics was something called Molcajete and looked amazing. Giant portion again. Large piece of carne asada, pollo, pork, chorizo and veggies with a huge chilé and and cheese wedges on top. I couldn't recommend this place any more!

The food I had was really good!! The portions were huge. We had a good time there. The server was there anytime we needed anything. He was amazing. We did not wait for refills at all. We will be back soon.

El Toro is hands down one of the best restaurants in Burlington! The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and full of energy — perfect for family dinners or a night out with friends. The staff is always friendly and attentive, making sure every visit feels special. The food is incredible — everything from the sizzling fajitas to the flavorful enchiladas and fresh guacamole tastes authentic and perfectly seasoned. The portions are generous, the prices are fair, and the margaritas are some of the best in town! Whether you’re craving classic Mexican favorites or just want great service and a comfortable place to relax, El Toro never disappoints. Highly recommend this local gem! ????????
